From 2021, a new procedure for medical care provision to cancer patients will come into force. Uniform requirements are established for public and private medical organizations in terms of capacity and bedspace, and regional authorities in the field of health protection should approve the procedure for routing patients in the territory of the constituent unit. The procedure establishes a specific list of types and methods of treatment of oncological diseases for which assistance is provided in medical organizations located in the region and beyond. Solving the problem of treatment in an outpatient setting can be another breakthrough solution that will help reduce the burden on the inpatient link. The current funding and regulatory framework does not allow to implement outpatient treatment, although most innovative drugs are available in tablet form.
