How is the cooperation between Russian and French scientific and student communities developing? Do French students consider internship options in Russia? The discussion "Appeal of National Jurisdiction: French and Russian Perspectives" held on the second day of Gaidar Forum 2021 was focused on the cooperation between Russia and France in the field of education.
Among the participants in the event were Oleg Zaitsev, Dean of the Department “Higher School of Jurisprudence” of the RANEPA Institute of Public Service and Administration; Xavier Latour, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of the Côte d'Azur; Alexey Meshkov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the French Republic and the Principality of Monaco; Jean-Sylvestre Berger, Research Fellow at the Research Centre for Law, Economics and Management of the University of Côte d'Azur, Vladimir Gruzdev, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia; and Yves Strickler, Professor of Private Law and Head of the Private and Criminal Law Program at the University of Côte d'Azur.
According to the Russian Ambassador in France Alexey Meshkov, the Russian-French cooperation in the sphere of education is developing, and the students of the French universities are interested in getting education in Russia and passing corresponding traineeships. "In 2019, our alliance added new members, the University of Grenoble and the University of Aix-Marseille. Every year more than five thousand Russian students study in France, and the interest of the French students to education and traineeships in Russia is on the rise every year", says Mr. Meshkov.
Christian Melle, representative of the Nice municipality, added that the French-Russian University is very important for the French educational and scientific community, so the cooperation between the partners will be continued.
The Russian-French University established in 2016 aims to promote academic mobility of students and to develop joint research. The participants are the University of Aix-Marseille, University of Grenoble Alpes, ITMO University, EDHEC Business School, Moscow National Research Nuclear University, NEOMA Business School, University of Côte d'Azur, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), Russian Foreign Trade Academy of the Russian Ministry for Economic Development (VAST), and SKEMA Business School.

The Forum will traditionally open the annual business agenda of Russia. In 2021, this large-scale event will be held in a hybrid format, both online and offline.
This time, the main discussion track will be social and economic transformations that have occurred in the country and the world as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The expert discussions will be focused on the national and global development goals and the search for practical solutions to the most urgent challenges of today. The Forum’s participants include ministers from the Russian Government, members of the Federal Assembly, governors of the Russian regions, largest world experts, representatives of foreign states.
