1987–2001: Teacher, senior teacher, assistant professor at the department of tennis; supervisor, professor at the department of individual sports and games; pro-rector on the training activity at the Order of Lenin State Central Institute of Physical Culture.
2001–2006: Rector of the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism, a government institution of higher professional education.
2006–2016: President of the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sport, Youth and Tourism, a federal state-financed institution of higher education.
2016–2020: Advisor to the President on the development of student sport at the Olympic Committee of Russia national union of public associations.
2005–2015: President of the Russian Student Sport Union. Elected president of the International Federation of University Sports and re-elected to this position in 2019.
January 21, 2020: Appointed Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation by Presidential Executive Order.
