Alexey Texler — Governor of Chelyabinsk Region
Born in Chelyabinsk, 19 January 1973.
Education: Economics and Management, Norilsk Industrial Institute.
Abbreviated biography:
In 1995, he graduated with honours from Norilsk Industrial Institute, as an engineer-economist majoring in the economics and management of metallurgy.
From 1990 to 2007, he held a number of positions at the Norilsk Mining and Metallurgical Combine and MMC Norilsk Nickel ranging from specialist to serving as the general director of the Norilsk Support Complex, a subsidiary of MMC Norilsk Nickel.
In 2008–2009, he was the head of the Norilsk municipal government.
Since 2011, he has worked as the managing director of Polyus, the Krasnoyarsk business unit.
In 2013, he was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation and in November 2014, became the First Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation.
He is currently the Full State Counsellor 2nd Class of the Russian Federation.
On 19 March 2019, President Vladimir Putin appointed Alexey Texler as the Acting Governor of Chelyabinsk Region and on 8 September 2019 Alexey Texler became the Governor of Chelyabinsk Region.
He is married and has one son.
