Dmitry Azarov — Governor of Samara Region
Born on August 9, 1970 in Kuibyshev (Samara).
1987 - finished secondary school in Kuibyshev.
1992 – graduated from Samara State Technical University
1994 – graduated from Buzuluk college for Finance and Economics, then worked as an IT-engineer.
1995-1998 – deputy director (economic sector), Samara boilers, auxiliary equipment and pipelines plant.
1998 – 2001 – deputy director (economics and preproduction sector), SINTEZKAUCHUK plant, then worked for production association “Volgapromkhim”.
2001 – 2006 – director general, JSC “Srednevolzhskaya Gazovaya Compania” (“The Middle Volga Gas Company”).
2006 – 2008 – first deputy of Samara City Mayor. Supervised finance and economic development department, department for municipal services and ecology issues, department for industrial policy, business and communications.
2008 – 2009 – Samara Region Minister for natural resources management, forestry and ecology.
2009 – enlisted into the President’s top-100 of high potential employees.
2010 – elected Samara City Mayor (66,94% votes).
2014 – appointed to the Federation Council of the Russian Federation as a senator to represent Samara Region.
September 2017 – appointed interim Governor of Samara Region.
September 2018 – elected Governor of Samara Region.
Married with two children.
