Alexey Russkih — Governor of Ulyanovsk Region
Aleksey Russkikh was born on 17 July, 1968, into a family of engineers in Izhevsk, Udmurt Republic.
Graduated from secondary school with a gold medal.
Graduated with honors from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Bauman Moscow State Technical University in 1991 with a degree in electrical engineering.
Graduated from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) in 2002 with a degree in banking and finance.
In 2005, defended his thesis for Ph.D. in Economics on "Russian Enterprises Investing Abroad". Aleksey Russkikh also wrote a number of monographs and academic papers.
Started working as a teacher in Robotics and Complex Automation Department at Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Held senior positions at various enterprises from 1992 to 2007. Has experience in crisis management of Novosibirsk Metallurgical Plant named after Kuzmin and Izhevsk Plastics Plant.
A member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF). A member of the 5th, 6th and 7th State Duma of the Russian Federation. Was elected as a member of the Communist Party.
In 2007-2011 - Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and High Technology.
In 2011-2016 - Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Land Relations and Construction.
In 2016-2018 - First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Construction.
Was appointed a member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for the executive branch of the Government of the Moscow Region on 17 September, 2018. Hold the position of Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy.
By decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 8 April, 2021, Aleksey Russkikh was appointed Acting Governor of Ulyanovsk Region.
