Eric Berton — President of Aix-Marseille University
Éric Berton is the President of Aix-Marseille University since 2020, President of the A*Midex Foundation, President of Protisvalor and President of the Impulse Incubator.
He holds a doctorate in fluid mechanics and began his career as a researcher. His researches earned him several major scientific distinctions including the bronze medal of the CNRS.
In 2002, he was promoted as Professor at the University of Aix Marseille where he initiated work in the field of biomechanics and developed relations with companies within the University of Aix Marseille. In 2008, he created a chair of excellence with the industrial group Oxylane.
Elected Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Aix-Marseille in 2010, he joined the governance of the newly created Aix-Marseille University in 2012 as Vice President for Valorisation and Innovation. He also took over the management of the Institute of Movement Sciences.
In 2019, he created the Cité de l'Innovation et des Savoirs d'Aix Marseille (CISAM) which brings together the actors of the innovation ecosystem in the Aix-Marseille metropolis.
During his career, Eric Berton has been awarded several times, Medal of the University of the Mediterranée, Officer of the Order of the Palmes Académiques and Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honour.
